Beat The Bastard Charity Ride 2013

Screen Shot 2013-05-19 at 10.44.33 PM
This year I will be travelling to compete in the BTB2013 Charity Ride.
This 3 day event will see one of Australia’s steepest lookout roads closed to traffic for the fifth straight year, all for a good cause. All money raised from the 3 day event is going to Camp Quality.
The Drift Trike scene is still young and closed road events are not easily done yet! This event will allow me to participate in the Gravity Bike discipline and see how an event is put together.
I can also meet lots of new people in the Gravity Sports world and hopefully gain some knowledge of how we can bring a Mega Slide weekend to the DT community.
I’d like to thank my family and friends for all their support and also to Moto Heaven for making it possible to enter this event, as full leathers were needed to ride the hill. I will be provided with a place to stay thanks to the hospitality of Unstable Drift Trikes #1 man Raymond who is kindly taking me under his wing for a thrill packed weekend of G-bikes and Drift Trikes in sunny Nth Queensland.

Slide Stars 1st Gravity Drift Trike !!

This trike build was to get my first Disc brake nailed  and use a 1 1/8 fork utilising the standard Huffy frame except for the “drop and stretch” .

Still utilising the Slide Star axle kit but this time I used a Aldi Green and Mean rear axle.

There is some bling on this trike including the Avid Elixir’3 fluid set up with Shimano quick release hub and Hayes 203mm stopper, Easton Vice headset and PRO frs bars with JetBlack blue grips, pegs are by G-sport and the self assembled blue alloy 20″rim is shod in a Maxxis Miracle 1.80″ for streamline low air drag as opposed to the 2.10″ I usually run.

This trike uses a 1″ 1/8 fork I grabbed off a BMX I had laying around, held in place with Slide Stars signature fork bearing mounts and deco bearings.

This was a late night project thought through and engineering elements from Steve K !!
